Enquanto debatemos os avanços da inteligência artificial, muitas vezes sentimos que o futuro já nos ultrapassou. As máquinas estão aprendendo, criando, decidindo — e nós? Estamos apenas assistindo?
Essa sensação de impotência é compreensível, mas enganosa. Ainda dá tempo. Mas é preciso agir com urgência e responsabilidade.
A história nos mostra que revoluções tecnológicas nunca foram apenas sobre tecnologia. Foram sobre escolhas. Quando a imprensa foi inventada, decidimos como usar o conhecimento. Quando surgiram os computadores, decidimos como trabalhar. Agora, com a inteligência artificial, temos que decidir como queremos viver.
Há espaço para ação. A educação pode ser transformada rapidamente, se aceitarmos que memorizar fatos perdeu valor frente ao desenvolvimento de pensamento crítico, empatia e criatividade. A legislação pode proteger direitos e definir limites éticos para o uso da IA — se houver coragem política. As empresas podem ser pressionadas a priorizar a transparência e a responsabilidade social. A cultura pode — e deve — imaginar futuros mais humanos.
Mas tudo isso exige uma virada de consciência. Não é uma questão técnica. É uma questão de vontade. De visão. De compromisso com o que realmente importa.
A IA vai continuar evoluindo. Isso é inevitável. O que não é inevitável é um futuro desumanizado, desigual ou automatizado sem critério. Esse futuro, sim, nós podemos — e devemos — evitar.
A pergunta não é se a IA vai nos moldar. É: seremos capazes de moldá-la a partir do que temos de melhor?
Ainda dá tempo. Mas o tempo é agora.

As we debate the advances in artificial intelligence, it often feels as though the future has already outrun us. Machines are learning, creating, deciding — and us? Are we merely watching?
This feeling of powerlessness is understandable, but misleading. There is still time. But we must act with urgency and responsibility.
History shows us that technological revolutions have never been just about technology. They’ve been about choices. When the printing press was invented, we chose how to use knowledge. When computers emerged, we chose how to work. Now, with artificial intelligence, we must choose how we want to live.
There is room for action. Education can be transformed quickly if we accept that memorizing facts has lost value compared to developing critical thinking, empathy, and creativity. Legislation can protect rights and define ethical boundaries for AI use — if political courage exists. Companies can be pressured to prioritize transparency and social responsibility. Culture can — and should — imagine more human-centered futures.
But all of this requires a shift in consciousness. It’s not a technical issue. It’s a matter of will. Of vision. Of commitment to what truly matters.
AI will keep evolving. That is inevitable. What is not inevitable is a dehumanized, unequal, or unprincipled automated future. That kind of future can — and must — be avoided.
The question isn’t whether AI will shape us.
It’s: will we be able to shape it based on the best of who we are?
There is still time.
But the time is now.
